It's one thing to have state title hopes but how about legitimate state tournament chances for both the girls and boys teams from the same school? That's the impressive reality at Liberty Hill where both programs are ranked in the state's Top 5.
Coach Barry Boren's boys are the #4 team in Class 4A and trying to put Panther basketball back on the map. It's all happening roughly a couple decades after playing in three state tournaments in the late 80's and early 90's. As of February 13, the team is a perfect 29-0.
Junior Guard Conner Lowe says, "I just think it's an expectation to win every game and I think going to state is a real possibility."
Senior Point Guard Callen Mikulencak says, "Pressure wise, I bet we sense a little bit of it when it's game time, knowing that any given night that someone can win, but it's part of the game."
Coach Barry Boren says, "Four years ago when the girls went we lost in overtime in the regional finals. So we were that close to realizing that dream. "
