MLS squads competing in ATX Pro Challenge

For the first time ever, three Major League Soccer squads are in Austin to compete in the ATX Pro Challenge. That includes the league's only four-time champ D.C. United who worked out at DKR Thursday afternoon.

The four team tournament begins February 13 at Myers Stadium. FC Dallas, Columbus Crew SC and the USL affiliate of Columbus, the Austin Aztex, are all in the mix. Considering D.C. United plays its games at RFK Stadium, DKR would seem like the perfect place to work out.

The afternoon was extra special for defender Bobby Boswell who was born in Austin and has watched his share of Longhorn games.

Boswell says, "This is pretty impressive! You know you watch games on TV and I've actually been here to see games and go out on Sixth Street and stuff but to actually be on the field and look up in the stands, you don't actually appreciate the magnitude of it all until you're actually standing on the field."

"From a player's perspective, there probably isn't a better city in the league to be playing soccer in. You'll have a request from many guys, from their agents, saying they want to be in Austin. Just because, as I said, the city is such a great place, and I would definitely be one of those guys," Boswell adds.

D.C. United plays the Aztex in the 8 p.m. game on Friday the 13th while Columbus Crew SC and FC Dallas are the early game at 5:45 p.m.
