Teen gets probation in fatal punching of classmate

A 16-year-old convicted of misdemeanor assault in the fatal punching of a fellow student at a Central Texas high school has been placed on probation and ordered to perform community service, undergo counseling and pay restitution to the victim's family.

A Comal County judge Monday placed the teen on probation he turns 18. Restitution of $20,119 to the family of 15-year-old Logan Davidson amounts to funeral and medical expenses.

The New Braunfels Herald-Zeitung reports the victim's mother, Kim Davidson, told the defendant he got "a slap on the wrist compared to the death sentence you gave my son."

The defendant testified he twice punched Davidson in 2013 at Canyon High School in New Braunfels because Davidson had antagonized him for two days, including striking him in the crotch.
