Film screening being held to benefit Urban Roots

Chipotle is teaming up with Urban Roots for a screening at the Alamo Drafthouse on Anderson Lane with all proceeds donated to Urban Roots.

Urban Roots is an Austin based nonprofit that uses food and farming to transform young people's lives and inspire, engage and nourish the community.

The film that's being screened is called "Inhabit: A Permaculture Perspective". It looks at environmental issues facing people today and examines solutions derived through Permaculture which is a design lens and process using ecosystem principles to shift human impact from destructive to regenerative.

A panel of experts will do a Q&A after the screening to talk about Permaculture and a variety of other topics. The panel will be moderated by City of Austin Food Policy Manager Edwin Marty and include Urban Roots Farm Director Lea Scott, author/activist/academic Raj Patel and Austin/Travis County Sustainable Food Policy Board Member Sharon Mays.

The screening is August 31 at the Alamao Drafthouse at 2700 W. Anderson Lane. Doors open at 6:30 p.m for the 7 p.m. show. The panel will immediately follow.

Tickets are $10 and 100 percent of the proceeds will go to Urban Roots. As a bonus, all of the people attending will get a free Chipotle burrito card and a tomato grow kid.
