Young futbol fan's reaction to prank is priceless

-

Sports fans experience a lot of ups and downs in the span of a lifetime -- even over the course of a game. For one young Italian futbol fan, the entire range of emotions die hard fans experience was on full display during a prank by his family.

In the video tweeted by Italian Football TV, the boy eagerly unwraps his birthday present as his family looks on. As he peels back the paper, it becomes apparent that it’s a futbol jersey. But something isn’t quite right.

Upon further inspection, he sees it is the jersey of Inter Milan -- the detested rival of his beloved Juventus futbol team. It is arguably the greatest rivalry in Italian fubol and will face off in the Derby d'Italia this year on December 9 and on April 29, 2018.

The young fan’s gut-wrenching reaction is priceless as his face turns to disgust. He throws the jersey, and his disgust turns into anger as he berates his family with a furrowed brow. It’s a common reaction of any sports fan in a stadium or in front of a television set when things aren’t going well. Eventually that anger turns into despair as the boy hides his face from onlookers.

But, as in all sports, there’s hope. He is given another present -- his real present. His family begins to cheer, and his face brightens. As soon as he sees the yellow of the Juventus away jersey, he rips it from the packaging and holds it high in the air as if he won the Coppa Italia himself.

Welcome to being a fan, kid. Watch the birthday video here.
