Orlando attraction 'Zombie Outbreak' lets players fight off walking dead

- If you're looking for a great way to prepare for a zombie apocalypse, you might want to head over to International Drive to the new Zombie Outbreak, a live action, immersive zombie experience.

The Wisconsin-based attraction just opened its Orlando location earlier this month at 7364 International Drive (formerly Wild Jacks Steak & BBQ).  Owner Ken Spriggs bills it as a "real-life video game" where you and your friends use "state-of-the-art weapons to clear a military base full of walking dead."

The weapons are real-life replicas in size, form and function and are similar to those used in laser tag games. The zombies wear targets that register "kills."

How scary is it?  It depends on how “screamish” you are. People who are more frightened than others want to get out of there faster. Generally, the game lasts anywhere from 10 to 15 minutes.

Is this for kids?  We recommend ages 10 and up, and for a parent to be present with kids under 12. The weapons we use are real modified weapons used in police and military training and are heavy. Also, this attraction is designed to scare you. The zombies jumping out and loud special effects may not be suitable for younger kids. Some kids get scared and some don’t. We leave everything up to the discretion of the parents.

What the hours of operation?  Monday through Thursday, 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Friday through Sunday,  12 p.m. to 10 p.m.

How much does it cost?  Pricing starts at $24.95 per person.  At present time, group discounts are not being offered.
