Akon wants to use his coin to help Africa

LOS ANGELES - Akon wants to make his own coin right now, now, now.

The “Mr. Lonely” singer plans to launch a cryptocurrency called “Akoin” in hopes of solving some of Africa’s current problems.

“I think that blockchain and crypto could be the savior for Africa in many ways because it brings the power back to the people and brings the security back into the currency system and also allows the people to utilize it in ways where they can advance themselves and not allow government to do those things that are keeping them down.”

The ideal crypto city where the cryptocurrency will be accepted is called “Akon Crypto City“. It encompasses 2,000 acres of land given to Akon as a present from the president of Senegal.
