One man dead, sibling injured in North Austin shooting

Austin Police are actively looking for a suspect linked to a deadly shooting early Saturday morning. Investigators say a hispanic man in his 20s was found dead in the driver's seat of a car along Wells Branch Parkway. His sibling was found not far from the car injured.

Investigators say around 3 a.m. APD received a transfer 911 call from Pflugerville. Someone driving by Wells Branch Parkway near Heatherwilde noticed a man who was injured. Initially they believed it could have been a possible crash involving a pedestrian. Authorities from Pflugerville and Travis County arrived first and then  called APD. The scene falls just within APD's jurisdiction.

Detectives with APD's Homicide Unit and Special Investigations Unit were called to the scene. Austin Travis County EMS pronounced the victim in the car dead at the scene. The second victim was taken to Round Rock Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. He is expected to be ok and was speaking with detectives.

Police are trying to piece together exactly what happened. They do not have a description of the suspect or a vehicle yet.

"We are asking the public if they heard something or saw something to please call 911 and give us as much information as they have," said Senior Police Officer Bino Cadenas.
