Author discovers her grandfather was Nazi portrayed in 'Schindler's List'

- Imagine finding out your biological grandfather was a Nazi. Furthermore, he was the sadistic Nazi portrayed in "Schindler's List."

This is exactly what happened to Jennifer Teege, a German-Nigerian woman who was adopted by a new family as a child but had contact with her biological mother.

It wasn't until age 38 that she picked a library book by chance and her life would be forever changed.

In an interview on Good Day LA, Teege said she compared the single photo she had of her biological grandmother to a photo of a woman in the book and discovered her grandfather was Amon Goeth, the villian Nazi SS commander depicted by Ralph Fiennes in "Schindler's List."

Goeth was the commandant of a concentration camp in Plazow in German-occupied Poland for most of the camp's existence during World War II.

Teege said the discovery sent her into a "severe depression" and on a mission to "unearth and fully comprehend her family's haunted history."

She eventually went on to write the book "My Grandfather Would Have Shot Me: A Black Woman Discovers Her Family's Nazi Past."
