Golf tournament supports foundation to help fight childhood cancer

At 14 Jennifer Wilks was diagnosed with cancer. She fought hard for for three and a half years. The teenager from Leander spent more than 400 days in the hospital and did it with a smile on her face.

Her wish was to help children when she grew up. In order to carry on her legacy and her wish her parents started the Jennifer Wilks Foundation.

The foundation is gearing up for the 11th annual charity golf tournament. The money raised from the tournament helps the foundation support different organizations helping children and their families who are fighting cancer.

She passed away at the age of 17 but her dreams stay alive. The foundation has served over 15,000 meals at Dell Children's Medical Center and granted more than 20 wishes through the Make A Wish Foundation.

If you want to golf for a good cause or support the foundation's mission check the organization out online.

The tournament is April 22nd at Star Ranch Golf Club.
