The Wayne County Prosecutor said on Monday that a man and woman were charged with assaulting a man who was visiting their home over the way he stirred the chili.

Jacob Rogers, 26, and Kimberly Richardson, 36, were both charged on Monday in connection with the assault.

According to officials, the victim was at the house in the 19200 block of St. Mary Street on January 7. Prosecutor Kym Worthy said Rogers got into a fight with the man because he stirred the chili and turned down the heat to keep it from burning.

Worthy said Rogers demanded the man's wallet and when he didn't get it, he stabbed the victim in the thigh with a knife. Worthy says Richardson also beat the victim and kicked him in the groin.

He got away and flagged down Detroit police. He was taken to an area hospital for treatment.

Rogers and Richardson were both charged with unarmed robbery, assault with intent to do bodily arm, felonious assault, aggravated assault, and assault and battery.
