Williamson Country trying to dry out after sudden storms

Runoff from the overnight storms flowed into Brushy Creek Thursday morning.

The water level had dropped just enough for a road crew to start clearing debris that was wedged against the Chisholm Trail bridge in Round Rock. Eventually repair work will also begin on roads that were also washed out by high water.

At the Leander Inspection Shop ...it was back to business after a soggy night. A sudden storm swamped the intersection at Hwy 183 and South St. Pictures provided to FOX7 show the knee deep water. By mid-morning all the water was gone.

"I couldn't believe it, where did it all go," asked Leander Inspection Station employee Santos Cardona.

The shop is just about dry and the owner is now trying to figure out how to redirect future flood water away from his building. The water mark left in the wall, according to Cardona is an example of how water has no mercy

A few spotty showers started to pop up Thursday afternoon. With the ground saturated the risk for flash flooding remains and several low water crossings also remain closed. A truck stuck in a yard is a reminder of why and what can happen - it was swept off a road in cedar park Wednesday night- the driver was rescued by emergency responders. The driver was not cited because the road had not been closed at the time he tried to cross.
