North Texas girl fighting cancer gets wig

A Royse City girl who lost her hair while battling cancer now has a new wig, thanks to a kind neighbor and some generous North Texans.

Earlier this year, 3-year-old Raeleigh Hogue underwent emergency surgery after doctors discovered a tumor pressing on her spine.

Raeleigh got an MRI after complaining of pain in her leg. The MRI revealed a two to three-inch mass pressing against her spine.

Doctors performed emergency surgery in January. They gave her a 25 percent chance to survive.

Raeleigh beat the odds, but lost her hair.

After meeting Raeleigh, her neighbor, Christina Martin, cut off 15 inches of her hair to donate for a wig for Raeleigh.

But turning the hair into a quality wig for Raeleigh would cost about $1,800.

In August, FOX 4 did a story on Martin donating her hair and the cost that stood in the way of making Raeleigh’s wig.

After our story aired, thousands pitched in to donate, and the rest of the money went to help the family with medical expenses.

Raeleigh got her new wig on Tuesday. She's also being surprised with a trip to meet Disney princesses next week.
