Dangerous missing king cobra found under neighbor's dryer

- The dangerous king cobra that escaped from its Apopka home in September has been captured.

Neighbors say the snake was found by a dryer vent in a garage not far from its owner's home near Orlando.
Officials say the homeowner called Orange County Animal Services on Wednesday night after she heard hissing sounds while putting clothes in her dryer.

"I didn't see it; I heard it," the woman told FOX 35 in Orlando.  "It was underneath the dryer.  It's a big baby. It's a big snake!"

Animal Control came out and captured the snake, according to officials. They'd been searching for it since Sept. 2, the day after its owner returned home from a trip and discovered it was missing.

Officials say the snake has a microchip which allowed animal control officials to verify it was the owner Mike Kennedy's missing snake.

A post on Kennedy's official Facebook page posted by his wife confirms they have the cobra back in their care.

Kennedy was cited for failing to immediately report the venomous snake missing and had requested a jury trial Wednesday.

FWC said Kennedy has the required permits to keep the snake, among other exotic animals.

FOX 35 was told the cobra is in rough shape and is being nursed back to health.
