Colton Turner's funeral

It was an emotional day for a community rocked by Colton Turner's death. "It's difficult the memories - seeing the pictures and the videos it brings back a lot of good memories of Colton," said Keith Helfrich, Colton's great-uncle. Tributes adorned the two-year old's casket at shoreline christian church in North Austin. Teddy bears and tractors - reminders that a life - so young and vibrant ended too soon."This isn't a time for anger simply a time to honor his life and what it's about.," said Celebrant Dr. Kevin Hull from the pulpit.

A moving montage and a bagpiper from the Austin Police Department were among the moving moments during the hour long service. "He had a personality to him a loving spirit - you couldn't help but laugh being around him," says Helfrich remembering the happy times.

The two year old finally laid to rest more than a month after his remains were found in a shallow grave. Dr. Hull said today was about giving Colton the love that eluded him in his own home, "He can't be hurt he can't be harmed any longer."

At Bagdad Cemetery in Leander, Colton's cousin Briana Harris sang "Colton's Song." Written to highlight the tragic reality of child abuse. Something that Helfrich underscores their family will tackle head-on, "This event was preventable and the family is working through the law for colton's law to make sure this never happens again to another family or child."

There were four doves and hundreds of balloons were released. And through his sorrow Colton's father Brandon Pelfrey said his goodbye setting a dozen butterflies free. A final farewell for a small boy whose short life has made a big impact for many years to come.
