Two-alarm fire reported in Northeast Austin

Fire crews worked into the evening to contain a 2-alarm fire at 8011 Cameron Road in Northeast Austin.

The call for help came a little after 3 p.m. Tuesday afternoon from someone inside the Gilead Healthcare building. Forty-five people were inside at the time of the fire.

According to officials, the fire started on the second floor of the Gilead Healthcare building. Dale Howard gave us permission to use the photo in this story.

Cameron Road was shut down between Rutherford Lane and HWY 183 shortly after the call. The roads reopened at around 4:30 p.m.

Firefighters worked for more than an hour to control the flames, concentrating on the roof of the building where heavy smoke could be seen for miles. The fire was put out about two hours after the initial call.

At this time officials don't know what caused the fire.
