One of Alex's parents, Derek Nash, says Alex was invited to the party at a ski and snowboard center just before the holidays and that he and his partner confirmed Alex would be there. But Nash says they had forgotten that Alex and his sister had already arranged for a day trip with their grandparents.
Nash says he asked Alex what he wanted to do and Alex said he wanted to be with his grandparents. Nash says by the time he realized he had double booked he didn't have any contact information to let the birthday boy's parents know Alex couldn't attend.
Nash says the holidays ended and when the new school year started, Alex came home and they found a brown envelope in his school bag. The envelope had an invoice for a child's party no show fee for about 16 pounds or a little over $24 in U.S. dollars.
The Plymouth Herald reports that the birthday boy's mother is insistent that Nash pays and reportedly may even take them to court.
