Power restored on UT-Austin campus

Power has been restored on the campus of the University of Texas at Austin. Officials are still trying to determine the cause. Classes will resume as scheduled.

The outage lasted about 90 minutes. The Associated Press reports that UT spokesman Gary Susswein says Tuesday morning's outage was "very unusual" and said it was the first time in about 10 years that the entire campus lost electricity.

The outage began around 8:15 a.m. CST Tuesday. Susswein says power started to return building by building at about 9:45 a.m.

Susswein says something was tripped at a substation on campus. He also says no injuries were reported and that emergency personnel did rescue one person who was trapped in an elevator.
