Children among those rescued after fiery DWI crash

Bystanders pulled two adults and two children from a burning SUV in Oak Cliff.

The crash happened around midnight near the intersection of Illinois Avenue and Wright Street.

The driver claimed he swerved to avoid a car that pulled out in front of him. He lost control and slammed into a fence.

Dallas police believe he was drunk. He is now facing two charges of driving while intoxicated with children under the age of 15 in the vehicle.

Those who stopped to help were able to get everyone out before it was too late and there were no serious injuries.

The crash also damaged some Dallas Area Rapid Transit train tracks and power lines, but repairs have already been made.
