DA Lehmberg released from jail

For the first time since April Travis County District Attorney Rosemary Lehmberg is free from jail.

Early Thursday morning she was released from the Travis County Jail after serving her sentence for a DWI conviction. She was arrested on April 12 with a BAC of .23, well above the legal limit of .08. She was sentenced to 45 days in jail on April 19 but was released after completing half her sentence under Travis County's two for one policy. An inmate can get credit for serving two days for every one day served for good behavior.

In a statement released to the media on Thursday Lehmberg said she would be making arrangements to seek professional treatment. She also said she would meet with members of her staff with whom she has been communicating for the past three weeks while incarcerated.
