Fayette County Jury Convicts Man of Rape Again

A Fayette County mother is outraged over the fact she had to endure two trials, after a man raped her special needs daughter.

In the first trial, the judge overturned the jury's guilty verdict. Now, another jury has found him guilty.

The rape took place in 2010. In 2012, a jury found William Dumas guilty. But last year, Appellate Court Judge Christopher McFadden ruled the 24-year-old woman with Down Syndrome did not behave like a victim, and the accused rapist did not behave like a perpetrator.

The judge's comments flabbergasted Fayette County District Attorney Scott Ballard.

On Tuesday, a second Fayette County jury found Dumas guilty of rape. The new judge sentenced Dumas to 25 years in prison, followed by life on probation.

Judge McFadden is up for reelection this year. The family told FOX 5 they would like to see him off the bench, but have not taken any steps towards that because they were focused on this new trial.
