Fire at Lone Star Food Mart on Sixth Street

Austin firefighters have put out a fire at the Lone Star Food Mart on Sixth Street near Red River and AFD says it has ruled the cause as accidental due to an electrical issue.

AFD says fire and smoke heavily damaged the first floor and all of its contents. Damage is estimated at $150,000 for the structure and $300,000 for the contents.

AFD says a passerby called the fire in just after 4 a.m. this morning. Crews were able to put out the fire pretty quickly because they say the flames were fairly small.

No one was injured.

The area was shut down for a time while the investigation was going on but it has now been reopened.
