Fire damages two homes in East Austin

A fire tears through two homes in East Austin. Firefighters have cleared the scene. It happened just after 11:00 p.m. in the 1600 block of Clifford Avenue, near MLK and Airport.

FOX 7 viewer Austin Lytle shared some pictures he took and described the first few moments of the blaze as more like an "explosion."

Following the sound, flames were seen shooting from two homes on Clifford Avenue. Multiple firefighters responded to the scene.

Fortunately, the three people living inside both homes were able to get out okay and there are no injuries but the fire did cause damage inside the two houses. Most of the damage is at the conjoining home in the back.

Two of the people are in the process of moving while the third is staying with friends FOX 7 is told.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
