Both directions of I-35 in San Marcos are now open after emergency crews removed a damaged sign bridge.
Friday morning, a driver ran off the road, hit a guardrail and damaged the sign bridge support on the west side of the interstate.
Because of this weekend's storms in mind, TxDOT decided the sign post needed to come down now.
Emergency repairs shut down I-35 at Blanco River in San Marcos in both directions for several hours.
Drivers were diverted to the access roads. TxDOT said they realized people were anxious to hit the road for Memorial Day but they really didn't want the sign bridge to hit the road.
