"I can tell you that one of my officers did take the original auto theft report yesterday so it came from you know...this sector," said Sgt. Martina St. Louis with APD.
St. Louis says the officer called for back-up to pull the car over but the driver kept right on going.
Police chased the car that went south on I-35 -- the driver took the Rundberg exit.
"One of my other officers was able to use the tire deflation device on the car which obviously deflated the tires...car was forced to pull over," she said.
That's when 5 minors jumped out and ran. All between the ages of 12 and 16.
4 of them were quickly taken into custody.
"One of the subjects we knew had run into the creek and we set up perimeter real quick, called for a K-9 and then K-9 was able to track her down," she said.
Sgt. St. Louis says no collisions, no injuries, no property damage -- except for the tires of course.
She says most of these minors have been on this side of the law before.
"4 out of 5 people that I know of had prior involvement for criminal activity with the police department. Why do they do that? I have no idea," St. Louis said.
APD says all 5 are facing charges for evading arrest. The driver is also facing an auto theft charge.
