In a letter to Del Valle parents, that's also posted on the school district's website, they describe three incidents that happened near their schools last week.
They say a last Thursday, a student reported a "suspicious person" approached them near Dailey Middle School. A Travis County Sheriff's Office tells Fox 7, that case was closed after they determined the person was a parent with a child at Dailey.
Del Valle ISD says Austin Police are investigating two other incidents that happened as students were walking to or from Del Valle High School. The first one, last Wednesday afternoon. They say a man asked a student to get in his car. The second incident, on Friday. In that case, a man approached the student on foot. Del Valle says both of the students were able to get help, and neither was hurt. Austin Police say that don't have a suspect in either case.
Austin Police are also investigating an attempted kidnapping in North Austin. They say Philip Gamez, 30, approached a High School student as she was walking home near Burnet Middle School. The man, they say, forced her into a car. Witnesses who spoke to Fox 7 say they were able to get the girl out, and the suspect fled. Police arrested him when he returned to the neighborhood several hours later. He was booked into the Travis County Jail. His bail was set for $50,000.
