FOX 7 wants to thank you

It has been a heartbreaking week for newsrooms across the nation.

For many journalists, the deaths of Alison Parker and Adam Ward hit close to home. Alison and Adam were killed on the field doing that they loved most: telling stories and informing their community.

Today, we want to thank our own local Austin community for the continuous love and support during the coverage of two fallen journalists. Your heartwarming words give us courage to continue informing the Austin community.

From FOX 7's news director, Pam Vaught:

FOX 7 would like to thank members of the community, the many law enforcement agencies and other organizations that have reached out to us this week following the deaths of journalists Alison Parker and Adam Ward in Roanoke.  We might not know these two young people but their loss has touched us and we continue to keep their co-workers and families in our thoughts and prayers.  Journalists everywhere put their lives on the line many times during their careers, and our staff is no exception.  Community support keeps us all strong and determined to do a better job every day.

Pam Vaught
FOX 7 News Director

Your support does not go unnoticed. From organizations, agencies, to our very own viewers, we appreciate your kind words.

We thank you.

From Austin Police Department Chief Art Acevedo:

From the Austin Girl Scouts:

Dear FOX 7,
Thank you for alll you do to keep our community safe and informed. You risk your lives, spend time away from your families-- oftentime with little to no "thanks." We are so grateful for you and all of your hard work.

Sincerely,
Your friends at GSTX

From the Austin Fire Department:

Firefighting is dangerous. We know this when we commit our lives to public service. And for those who take on the task of reporting what we do, their jobs can sometimes get dangerous, too. But they usually know what they're getting into ahead of time. Until today. Our hearts are heavy for the families, friends, and loved ones of WDBJ7 reporter and photographer Alison Parker and Adam Ward, who were senselessly gunned down this morning in Roanoke while doing a live feature story. And to our friends here in the media, the ones we work with every day, we're keeping all of you in our thoughts and prayers as you mourn the loss of your colleagues. ‪#‎WeStandWithWDBJ

From the Cedar Park Police Department:

In light of today's shooting of journalist Alison Parker and photographer Adam Ward in Moneta, Virginia, I wanted to take a moment to recognize the important and sometimes dangerous work you do to cover, prepare and broadcast the news for the residents of Central Texas.  While the relationship between police and media can sometimes be contentious, it is never without respect for one another's missions.
I would like to thank you, both as a citizen and as Chief of Police, for your dedication to telling stories and being seekers of truth.  I encourage you to stay vigilant while engaged in your work and to call on us if we can ever be of service when you are in Cedar Park.

God Bless,
Sean Mannix, Chief of Police
Cedar Park Police Department
