Two people stabbed near UT Campus

Austin Police are looking for a man who stabbed two people near the UT campus Monday afternoon.

APD said a man was driving in the UT area with a male and female passengers when an argument started to get heated so they pulled over onto Whitis Avenue.

Sgt. Carlos Dominguez said that's when the man in the backseat, stabbed the man driving the car in the neck.

According to police, the stabbing victim ran to a parking lot next door to escape the attack. He was taken to UMC Brackenridge and is in stable but critical condition and may have to have surgery. Apparently the suspect managed to cut the woman's hands during the incident but she's ok.

"It was indicated that she attempted to push the front male passenger out of the car to try to save him as he was getting assaulted from the backseat passenger and then she was trying to pin the guy in the backseat but he eventually managed to force his way out of the car," Sgt. Dominguez said.

APD said the suspect was last seen heading south. They don't have a great description of him only that he's about 6 ft, 260 pounds. APD said they do know who he is so they're hoping he'll turn himself in.

According to the University of Texas Police Department, two people were stabbed near UT's campus, one victim is in serious condition.
