Massive food fight at Manor High School

A massive food fight involving hundreds of students broke out in the cafeteria and courtyard during C lunch at the Manor High School on Tuesday, May 24. The situation escalated quickly and resulted in law enforcement being called to assist.

The following letter was sent home to parents of students who attend Manor High School:

On Tuesday, May 24 a massive food fight involving hundreds of students broke out in the cafeteria and courtyard during C lunch. The situation escalated quickly and resulted in law enforcement being called to assist. Not only did this incident pose a threat to student and staff safety, it resulted in a major disruption to the academic environment throughout the campus. This type of behavior will not be tolerated.

Campus administrators are still investigating the incident and will enforce disciplinary measures for all students involved. Any seniors found to be actively involved may not be allowed to participate in graduation ceremonies.  Parents will be notified of their student’s involvement and corresponding discipline on an individual basis.

To ensure safety and order and to maintain the campus’ academic integrity for the remainder of the school year, lunches will occur in classrooms, rather than in the cafeteria. Additionally, to prevent students from bringing items on to campus that might distract from academics, no backpacks or large purses will be allowed.

Please speak with your students about the impact of their decisions on the campus as a whole and encourage them to finish the year out strong. If students finish the week without any additional incidents, administration will allow for all students to be released at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 31 and Wednesday, June 1.

If you have any questions, please contact the campus at 512-278-4800.
