Texas A&M debuts new and improved football stadium

College Station is bracing itself as thousands of Texas A&M Aggies fans prepare to descend on the town.

This year fans will walk into a newly renovated, multi-million dollar stadium.

Texas A&M coaches aren't the only ones preparing for this weekend's home opener. Crews are putting finishing touches on the newly renovated Kyle Field.

"Within seven maybe eight months, they built this facility. There aren't many places you can build a house in Texas in that period of time," said John Sharp, Chancellor.

The $485 million stadium will make its debut Saturday, September 12.. Students, anxiously waited in line to buy tickets for the inaugural opening of the new and improved stadium.

"It's supposed to be really, really nice,” said Krisp Bowen, freshman.

“I just feel honored because they're putting so much time and money in this stadium," said Jacob Hicks, freshman.

With new safety improvements, added seating and a new hall of champions, the new Kyle Field has a lot to offer, and the excitement seems to resonate across campus.

"I cannot believe the stadium is up and ready," sad Dani Smith, junior.

Kyle Field hails the title of the largest collegiate football stadium in the state. Saturday the land of The 12th Man will open its doors to the world.

“This is done for all Aggies, current students, former students and future students," said Sharp.

The home opener is Saturday, against Ball State at 6:00 p.m.
