APD identifies 62-year-old killed in hit and run

The Austin Police Department has identified the woman killed in a hit and run after an incident of road rage on Wednesday as 62-year-old Mary Piette. APD is investigating this as a homicide and is searching for suspects.

On Wednesday, November 3, 2016 at approximately 1:31 a.m., Austin Police officers responded to the 5300 block North IH-35 northbound service road in reference to a crash. Upon arrival, officers located a female victim lying in the parking lot with apparent injuries.

Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services transported the victim to the University Medical Center at Brackenridge Hospital, where she was pronounced deceased at 2:01 a.m.

Witnesses observed the female victim exit her car and verbally confront the male driver of another vehicle.

The male driver and at least two passengers exited the second car and verbally engaged the victim. It is unclear what transpired at this time but, ultimately, the occupants of the second vehicle returned to their car and ran over the victim as they fled the scene.

The suspect vehicle is described as a blue four door sedan driven by a white male.
