Arrest made in Southeast Austin stabbing

- A violent fight in Southeast Austin ends with one man being stabbed 17 times.

Three other victims were also taken to a hospital. Austin Police said they have one suspect in custody, charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. An arrest warrant has been issued for a second suspect.

Police said the fight was over a stolen cell phone. Things quickly escalated, involving around ten people. A witness sent FOX 7 a Facebook Live video from the chaotic scene the aftermath of a violent fight. Austin Police responded to Fairway Gardens apartment complex near Montopolis and Riverside Drive Sunday night. They found four victims with various injuries; one had been stabbed 17 times.

"Your life is not worth any property. So, your safety is paramount," says Officer Destiny Winston, Austin Police Department.

21-year-old Alvin Madison was accused of stealing a cell phone from the son of one of the victims. Police said he was located by a tracking app. At that time, court documents state there was an argument between Madison and the victim's mother. It ultimately ended with both parties going their separate ways.

Police said later that night, Madison returned with 8 to 10 people. That's when a fight reportedly broke out involving bats, sticks and knives.

"If you believe your phone has been stolen, or any type of property has been taken from you, please call 911 and report it. Let officers respond. Don't take it upon yourself, and I'm not putting blame on any of the victims, I want to make that very clear. I'm saying for safety precautions, just let the officers handle it and make sure the incident is resolved peacefully," said Winston.

Madison has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. The other suspect fled the scene but he's being identified as 24-year-old Tony Walker. A warrant has been issued for his arrest. He's also facing a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. When it comes to the possibility of more arrests or charges, Austin Police say they aren't ruling anything out.

"That's possible, that's definitely possible. There's a lot of moving parts but as of right now, only two have been charged," said Winston.

APD has not yet said whether the victims and suspects knew each other. If you have any information about the fight, you're asked to call Austin Police.
