Local school official shares memories of 22-year-old killed in Greece

More is being learned about 22-year-old Austinite Bakari Henderson who was killed recently in Greece. People from his old high school, Hyde Park, shared their memories of Henderson exclusively with FOX 7.

FRIENDS SAY TEXAN KILLED IN GREECE WAS EASYGOING, FUN-LOVING

School officials say Henderson was always very ambitious and polite. They say he was one of their buddies and someone that would just come by their office to say hi or see how their day was going.

Director of High School Admission at Hyde Park Schools Lisa Thomas says she not only worked with Henderson academically but says he was also her son's friend.

Henderson graduated from Hyde Park four years ago. He was only there for his senior year but Thomas says you would never have known it. She says Henderson was very intelligent and highly respected as a student and athlete.

After high school, Henderson went on to receive a full academic scholarship to the University of Arizona where he had just graduated in May.

Henderson was killed in Greece last week where he was for a photo shoot for a new clothing line he had just started.

New surveillance video shows two groups of people that seem to be arguing outside of a bar before a fight breaks out. Police in Greece say Henderson was beaten to death. Nine men have been arrested and charged with intentional homicide. Police have not released a motive for the attack.

Family and friends are gathering to remember his life. The wake is tomorrow (7/14) night at 6 p.m. at the Greater Mount Zion Baptist Church in East Austin. The funeral will be on 7/15 at 11 a.m. in the same location.
