FOX 7 Discussion: Bathroom bill protest

- Religious leaders were at the south steps of the state Capitol Tuesday to oppose the controversial bathroom bill that has already passed the state Senate.

The bill would make transgendered individuals use the bathroom that corresponds to their sex on their birth certificate.

While Lieutenant Governor Patrick said the majority of Texans want this bill, many religious and business leaders have come out saying it's wrong and will hurt Texas more than it will help.

They said the bill discriminates against kids and adults that are transgender.

The bathroom bill has not come up yet in the Texas house.

The special session started on July 18th and could last as long as 30-days.

FOX 7’s Mike Warren talks to Reverend Anna Humble with Hope United Church of Christ in Georgetown about the controversial bathroom bill.
