3 people dead in head-on collision West of San Marcos

FOX 7 has confirmed that 3 people died on the scene of a head-on collision west of San Marcos.

The Department of Public Safety tell us that a Dodge pickup truck traveling on HWY 12 approximately 4 miles west of San Marcos attempted to pass a vehicle in a no passing zone and crashed head-on with a Toyota Camry.

Two people, a male and female riding in the Camry died on the scene.  The driver of the Dodge truck also died on the scene.

3 other persons were transported to South Austin Medical Center.  No further updates on their status are available at this time.

DPS is currently investigating and FOX 7 will bring you more information as it becomes available to us.

Lieutenant, Support Services Jeri Skrocki from Hays County Sheriff's Office posted the following message on nextdoor.com...

Ranch Road 12, just south of Hugo Road is the scene of a major fatality accident. The roadway is closed indefinitely while first responders take care of the situation. Please find an alternate route into Wimberley or San Marcos if you are trying to travel this way. We will keep you posted about the incident. Currently, we have no way to reroute traffic.
