First responders recover man's body, one woman remains missing

AUSTIN, Texas— The Travis County Sheriff's Office recovered the body of a driver who was missing in flood waters south of the county.

A man’s body, in his late 40s or early 50s, was discovered at the 10300 Block of FM 1625. The man’s name is being withheld, pending notification of next of kin.

An elderly man and woman also went missing at 8320 Citation. The man was found alive, but the woman is still missing, according to the Sherriff’s Office.

The Austin Fire Department reports approximately 478 incidents from midnight until 2 PM Friday. AFD said there have been at least 14 water rescues, three wires arcing, 44 flood assist calls, and 10 flood barricade calls.

The City of Austin reports more than 450 low-water crossings across central Texas. County officials say that heavy rain is especially causing flooding in the Onion Creek area.

Additional rain is expected Friday evening and early Saturday. Officials remind residents to monitor local weather reports, avoid flood waters, and remember to "Turn around. Don't Drown."
