The Chuy's Children Giving to Children Parade went on despite a dreary forecast but the weather kept spectators away and organizers are asking for more toy donations so that Operation Blue Santa's mission doesn't suffer.
The parade, in its 27th year, is a unique toy drive. Spectators are asked to bring new, unwrapped toys to donate. But because of the rain forecast and the chilly temperatures, organizers say only about 15,000 people showed up to watch this year compared to more than 60,000 in 2014.
Organizers are asking those who planned on attending and didn't to drop off new, unwrapped toys at any Chuy's location or Shady Grove. You can get a complete list of drop-off sites here.
Operation Blue Santa brings toys to kids in need for the holiday season along with a meal for the entire family. The demand is always greatest for kids in the lower and upper range: infants to two-year-olds and 12 to 14-year-olds.
