Authorities looking for man charged with felony assault strangulation/suffocation

U.S. Marshals are searching for a man wanted for attacking woman at a southeast Austin apartment complex. Investigators say the suspect forced the victim's head into a tub filled with bleach.

The use of bleach is just one part of what’s being described as a violent attack. Now with the Marshal's Lone Star Task force involved, the search has gone nationwide.

The incident happened in November - at an apartment complex near the intersection of Willow Creek Drive and Oltorf. Gregory gill, investigators say, wanted to break up with his live-in girlfriend. That decision, According to Deputy U.S. Marshal Brandon Filla, allegedly lead to the woman being attack.

"She was beaten; she was strangled, where she sustained injuries, scratches to her face as well as markings left on her neck."

The fight eventually moved into a bathroom. The woman claims gill filled the tub up with water, threw in her clothes, poured bleach on them and then threw her in.

"Yeah, I wouldn't say this is murder by bleach, but it is a warrant out for strangulation, this is something different, this is something in the course of my career I haven't seen yet."

According to court documents, the woman and gill continued to fight in her car, where she was thrown out and he drove off.

APD Detectives asked marshals for help for two reasons. Gill is from Tennessee; he may have fled there and he also has a very violent past.

"We've got an attempted robbery, we've got aggravated assaults, we got an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, we've also got an injury to a child, out of San Angelo Texas, and as well as an attempted murder, which was downplayed and convicted on a simple assault.

Gregory gill is now featured on a U.S. Marshal’s wanted poster.  It’s believed he could be hiding out in Tennessee, but task force members have not ruled out the possibility he is still in Texas.

Information about the whereabouts of Gregory Gill can be reported by calling the U.S. Marshal's office at 512-800-4213. Calls can also be made to local law enforcement office or by calling 911.

The woman, who allegedly was attacked, has recovered from her injuries, which clearly may not be the case for her 2 year relationship with Gregory Gill.

They continued to argue regarding who had her keys and he then grabbed her around the throat and threw her down on the bed.  She was lying on her back facing up and remembered not being able to breathe. She does not recall why he stopped, but he stopped before she lost consciousness.  She stated he did it again but stopped.  At some point after she took our her phone to call someone to come get her, but he took the phone away from her and threw it outside.  She went outside to get the phone and he followed her and she was able to get back inside the residence and lock him outside.

She observed him get into her vehicle and drive away from the residence.  She went outside and went to a neighbor's residence to call the police. He was around the corner and ran back to the residence and then locked her outside the residence.  He poured bleach on her clothes in the tub and then let her inside the residence.  She began to reach for her things inside the tub and he grabbed her again by the throat and smashed her into the wall of the tub. He held her head underneath the rising water in the tub.

She was scared and started to swallow and breathe in the water causing her to cough. She did not know if he was going to stop and felt that he was going to kill her.  He did stop and she did not lose consciousness.

They went to the kitchen and he again grabbed her around the throat and began to squeeze.  She ended up on the floor and could not breathe and she started to black out.  She could not stop him and felt he wasn't going to stop.  His face dimmed and then nothing.  She did not know how long she was out and when she woke up it took her a while to figure out where she was or what had happened.

After waking up, he told her he was leaving in her car.  She got into her car to try and stop him from taking it.  He was driving her vehicle and she attempted to turn off the vehicle and get out.  When she did this he beat on her and punched her in the face.  He eventually kicked her out of the vehicle and left the scene.

The arrest warrant goes on to describe the victims injuries, none of which are life threatening.
