$7,500 reward offered for Most Wanted Fugitive from Amarillo

The Texas Department of Public Safety has added Robert Houston Hayes to the Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitives list and a cash reward of $7,500 is being offered for information leading to his capture.

56-year-old Hayes is a violent sex offender and has an extensive criminal past. He is wanted for aggravated robbery, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, parole violation and probation violation.

Hayes is 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighs approximately 185 pounds. Hayes has multiple tattoos, including a bicycle/unicorn on his back; dove on his chest; spider web on left hand; and “Robert Hayes” signature on left leg. He also has a scar on his forehead and may wear glasses.

DPS says Hayes has ties to the Amarillo and Alburquerque, New Mexico areas. In addition, he had visited Las Vegas, Nev., during the last year.

On Oct. 23, 2015, Hayes was released from the South Texas Intermediate Sanction Facility in Houston and was scheduled to report to an El Paso halfway house the following day. Hayes never arrived and his whereabouts are currently unknown.

Hayes was wearing an ankle monitor while traveling, and his last GPS location according to the monitor was Junction, Texas, where he removed the device.

In 1998, Hayes was convicted of sexual assault of an 11-year-old girl in Nebraska. You can read more in his wanted bulletin here.
