*UPDATE* McNeil lockdown is over, students & staff are secure

According to sources inside the school the lockdown is over and classes have resumed.

FOX 7 is still looking into the cause of the alert.

Round Rock ISD released the following statement...

Dear McNeil parents, guardians, and staff,

We lifted the lockdown at 2:30 p.m. and continued our instructional day.
After an investigation, we were able to confirm that the school is safe and secure. Please note that we did need to adjust one of our lunch periods.

The safety and security of our school is our top priority. With that in mind, we take all threats seriously.

Please use this opportunity to remind your students to immediately contact an adult if they hear any rumors or conversations regarding possible actions that could threaten others or the school. Students must also be aware of the significant consequences they face if involved in any such activity.

Our leadership team and entire school will continue to work tirelessly to ensure the safety of every student at McNeil. Thank you for your attention and support of our school.

According to Williamson County Sherriff's Public Information Officer Fred Thomas, "A student advise his father that he (the student) had heard from another student from school that something "bad" was going to happen today at school. The father called and advised the school who, at approx. 1:30 PM, subsequently put the school on lock-down and contacted the SO. The school began interviewing students and approximately 30 minutes ago, terminated the lock-down."

The alert went out via twitter around 1:50 p.m.

A FOX 7 viewer sent us this message that was sent out on the Social Media platform Snapchat.  The message reads...

"Hey leave campus during c lunch, some kid came in my last period and said "hey everyone RIP McNeil high school, rest in peace, everybody make sure to go off campus for c lunch" He seemed serious but idk really so just be advised I guess."
