A/C units are working overtime in Central Texas as hot temps linger

It been one of the hottest weeks of the summer and it's supposed to get worse over the next couple of days. A/C units everywhere are on overtime. This week, the Electric Eeliability Council of Texas, or ERCOT set an all-time demand record.

They say it is the third time this week, they've beat the old record back in 2016.

ERCOT is the entity, or grid that manages flow of electricity to 24 million Texans. "All of the power we purchase comes out of the ERCOT market," said Debbie Kimberly, spokesperson for Austin Energy.

More importantly, with temps expected to remain in the triple digits through the weekend, be health conscious. "The symptoms of heat exhaustion can come on very quickly," said Chris VanDeusen, spokesperson for Texas Department of State Health Services.

The symptoms of heat exhaustion can be profuse sweating, nausea, and disorientation.

If you think you might be experiencing heat exhaustion or worse heat stroke, call a doctor immediately.
