AFD rescues raccoon from light pole

The Austin Fire Department responded to a call from a concerned citizen who noticed a raccoon that was asleep on top of a light pole. The citizen was worried the tired raccoon might fall from the pole and cause an accident.

It happened on March 3. The raccoon was on a light pole in the center of Highway 71 near Austin-Bergstrom International Airport.

Firefighters arrived and were able to get the raccoon down safely. The rescue was caught on video.

Animal Control now has the raccoon.
