APD Chief responds to negative police talk on Twitter

Chief Art Acevedo said on Monday he sent out an email to his officers reminding them to remain vigilant and most importantly to tell them the community supports them.

Acevedo held a press conference Monday afternoon to address he deputy's death and to defend officers after this controversial tweet was over the weekend.

The Peaceful Streets Project called the murdered officer a pig and called law enforcement a criminal gang.

Acevedo described such language vile.

He says the deputy's murder concerns him and his officers. Some officers, he said, have requested to ride out in pairs.

Former APD officer and Williamson County Precinct 1 Constable Robert Chody, has organized a march in support of law enforcement.

It will be held on Saturday, September 19th at 10 a.m. The public is encouraged to meet at APD headquarters. The march will go to the capitol.

"Our intention with this is to show the law enforcement community that's been silent for some time over the years of anti-police attitude, to show the majority of the population does support law enforcement and we're starting to see that now," said Chody.
