Police kicked off the special group running and walking events this morning at 6:30 a.m. at Vic Mathias Shores with a three mile run and a two mile walk. The events are open to the public.

This morning's event lasted for about an hour and around 20 people showed up.

APD isn't the only group stepping up. Tetra Fitness gym owner Kathy Redden says she is fed up and is putting power in numbers by creating a free running group. She's inviting runners of all levels to meet at her gym on West 6th Street every Monday at 5:40 a.m.
