APD police officer involved in crash

The Austin Police Department is investigating a crash that involved one of its officers. It happened around 6:15 a.m. at Toll Road 183-A and Avery Ranch Road.

Police say the officer was on a motorcycle and was trying to pull over a car for speeding. The driver of the car suddenly braked when he saw the officer and police say that's when the motorcycle hit the car.

The police officer was taken to a hospital. He's reportedly alert and conscious and has no life threatening injuries.

The driver of the car wasn't hurt.

It's not clear if the driver will be given any citation due to this incident.

There had been some delays and road closures in the area due to the investigation but traffic is now back to normal.
