An Austin ISD police officer was sent to the hospital early this morning after his patrol vehicle collided with another car.

AISD says the officer was on his way to work when another driver ran a stop sign. The crash happened at around 6 a.m. at the intersection of FM 973 and Shadow Glenn Trace in Manor.

The Travis County Sheriff's Department says it believes fog may have been a contributing factor in the crash.

Both drivers were taken to the hospital and both are expected to be fine.
