Austin Police investigating shooting of Judge Kocurek

Austin Police Chief Art Acevedo stopped short of calling Chimene Onyeri a suspect in Friday night's ambush of Judge Julie Kocurek.

"He was taken in and has been booked on an unrelated murder charge by the Houston Police Department," Acevedo said.

So why  is the 28-year old a person of interest? Court records show Judge Kocurek was about to revoke his probation for a 2012 conviction in an identity theft case.

In June, Onyeri violated the terms of his probation. He was set to appear before Judge Kocurek who, if she wanted to, could throw him in jail.
