Austin tops 'Best Places to Live in the USA' list

U.S. News & World Report has released its annual list of the Best Places to Live in the USA and for the second straight year Austin has topped the list.

The list is based on several areas using data the publication has collected from organizations like the Department of Labor and the U.S. Census Bureau. The publication looks at things like average salary, cost of living, crime rates and more.

The publication says Austin is one of the fastest growing metro areas in the country but says the media sale price for a single family home in Austin is well above the national median.

As for transportation, U.S. News & World Report says Austin is among the nation's worst metro areas for traffic congestion and that the city is below the national average when it comes to using public transit.

Other Texas cities to make the list include San Antonio (#14), Dallas-Fort Worth (#18), Houston (#26), Killeen (#90), El Paso (#105), Corpus Christi (#106), Beaumont (#113), McAllen (#115) and Brownsville (#121).
