Bastrop Emergency Coordinator Mike Fisher passes away

- The Bastrop County Office of Emergency Management posted on their Facebook that long time Emergency Manager Mike Fisher passed away at his home Tuesday afternoon.

Fisher was described by Bastrop County Officers as a strong leader; he devoted 10 years to the Bastrop County Office Emergency Unit and assisted the community through major disasters.

The most notable disaster was the 2011 Complex Fire, which burned 34,000 acres, 1,700 structures were lost and two people lost their lives. 

Fisher’s quick action and fearlessness saved the lives of many as well as his peers.

Bastrop County said Fisher’s spirit and quite confidence will be missed by many.

Funeral arrangements are pending.
