Blue Santa in need of present deliverers

Operation Blue Santa has been helping bring Christmas to thousands of families across Austin for over 40 years, delivering presents as well as Christmas meals.

Last year alone over 14,000 children were able to open up presents on Christmas Day thanks to the help of volunteers. This year Blue Santa needs more help to make sure that thousands more are able to do the same this year.

After months of hard work collecting and sorting gifts, Operation Blue Santa is asking the community to come out and help deliver thousands of presents to families across the city in time for Christmas.
On Saturday, Blue Santa volunteers will be delivering gifts to roughly 6,000 families across the city. Organizers say they don't know how many volunteers they will have until they show up on delivery day.
In years past  they've had up to two thousand volunteers. For those that do take the time to spread some Christmas spirit, they say just one look at the faces of the children is worth all the work.
"This is going to make sure that some child, that would otherwise not have a Christmas, is now going to have a Christmas with presents and the things that most of us have been able to enjoy over our lifetime." Mike Sheffield of Operation Blue Santa said, "It is going to give them a chance to have that as well. Also, you can't beat the feeling that you get as you give that gift, that package to that family, and you see the light shine in those kids eyes and the smile."
Volunteers are needed 8:00 A.M. Saturday and you can meet at any of the following locations:
  • Main substation: 4101 S. Industrial Ln.
  • North: 12425 Lamplight Village Ave.
  • South: 404 Ralph Ablanedo Dr.
  • East: 812 Springdale Rd.
If you aren't able to volunteer but still want to help out, the agency is always accepting monetary donations.
